TCN Announces Daily Power Outages in Delta for Substation Maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that several communities in Delta State will experience daily power outages as it continues preventive maintenance work on its Delta 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

In a statement issued on Friday via its official X handle, the company said the maintenance exercise began on June 4 and will run daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until June 16, 2026.

TCN explained that the exercise is aimed at enabling the connection of a bus coupler circuit breaker as well as the rehabilitation of five isolators on the main busbar system.

“The maintenance is to facilitate the connection of a bus coupler circuit breaker and the rehabilitation of five isolators on the main busbar,” the statement said.

The company noted that several 33kV feeders supplied from the Effurun and Delta 132/33kV transmission substations will be affected and remain out of service during the maintenance period.

The affected feeders include Effurun, Warri, Sapele, Osubi, PTI, PMSL, Refinery I, Refinery II, Enerhen, Isoko/Kwale, Otovwodo/Patani, Ughelli/Shell, Agbarho/Eku, Aladja, Imoniyame, and Beta Glass.

However, TCN assured residents that power supply will be restored daily at 5:00 p.m. after the completion of maintenance activities, allowing the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (Benin DisCo) to resume supply to customers.

“Power supply will be restored daily at 5:00 p.m., enabling Benin DisCo to offtake electricity for its customers, following the completion of each day’s maintenance activities,” the company stated.

TCN also apologised to affected customers, expressing regret over the inconvenience caused by the ongoing exercise, while stressing that the maintenance is necessary to improve efficiency and reliability of the transmission network.
