Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, has congratulated the people of Abia State and Nigerians across the country on the 66th Independence Anniversary, calling for renewed patriotism, unity and collective commitment to national development.

In a goodwill message marking the anniversary, Emetu reflected on Nigeria’s journey since independence on October 1, 1960, noting the progress recorded over the years alongside the challenges the country has encountered.

The Deputy Governor urged Nigerians to remember the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers and recognise the responsibility of the present generation to contribute to building a peaceful, stronger and more prosperous country.

Emetu described Nigeria’s diverse population as one of the country’s greatest strengths and encouraged citizens to uphold mutual respect, inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence across ethnic, religious and political lines.

He also stressed the importance of active citizen participation in the development process, saying sustainable progress requires the contributions of government, citizens and other stakeholders.

The Deputy Governor further used the occasion to assure the people of Abia State of Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s commitment to policies and programmes focused on improving citizens’ welfare and creating opportunities for sustainable development.

He called on Abians to continue supporting initiatives aimed at transforming the state while maintaining peace, obeying the law and working together in the interest of Abia and Nigeria.

Emetu extended his goodwill to Abians and Nigerians living within the country and abroad, wishing them a joyful 66th Independence Anniversary. He urged citizens to remain proud of Nigeria and committed to building a better future for present and future generations.
