NAF Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Hideouts in Adamawa and Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified counterterrorism operations in Adamawa and Borno States, carrying out coordinated airstrikes on suspected terrorist strongholds in the Southern Tumbuns and Mandara Mountains in the North-East.

The operations, conducted on May 19, 2026, targeted Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.

According to the Air Force, the strikes were carried out based on credible intelligence, supported by confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions, which identified terrorist logistics hubs, structures, and assembly points hidden within the areas.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF said several terrorists were neutralised during the operations, while planned attacks were successfully disrupted.

The statement also noted that the airstrikes destroyed logistics facilities and operational structures used by insurgents in the affected locations.

Speaking on the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to sustained joint military operations aimed at restoring peace across the country.

He stated that intelligence-driven air operations would continue to target terrorist hideouts, logistics networks, and operational bases across affected regions.

The Air Chief further stressed that the Nigerian Air Force would maintain pressure on terrorist groups until lasting stability is achieved in the North-East.
