Makinde Appeals for Unity, Assures Protesters of Rescue of Abducted Pupils and Teachers

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appealed to protesters demanding the rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area to remain calm and support ongoing efforts by security agencies.

The governor made the appeal on Tuesday while addressing demonstrators at the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan.

Makinde said the situation required collective responsibility rather than blame, stressing that government and security agencies were fully engaged in efforts to secure the victims’ release.

He described the attackers as individuals acting without humanity, saying their actions reflected extreme brutality.

The governor urged residents, including students and workers, to trust the government and avoid actions that could worsen the situation.

He disclosed that federal security operatives had been deployed to the affected area and had been working there for weeks, maintaining constant coordination with his office.

Makinde warned against allowing divisions or political tension to undermine rescue operations, urging unity in the face of insecurity.

He expressed optimism that the abducted pupils and teachers would be safely rescued, assuring residents that efforts were ongoing behind the scenes.
