Tinubu Secures APC Presidential Ticket for 2027 in Landslide Victory

President Bola Tinubu has secured the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election following a decisive victory in the party’s nationwide primary held on Saturday.

The incumbent president defeated his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, with overwhelming margins across several states, where results showed either landslide wins or negligible votes for the opponent.

The primary election was largely peaceful and was supervised by governors appointed as collation officers by the party.

In Rivers State, Tinubu polled 280,468 votes, while Osifo recorded no votes across the 23 local government areas, according to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who announced the result.

In Edo State, Tinubu secured 131,096 votes against Osifo’s single vote. Governor Monday Okpebholo, who served as returning officer, described the process as transparent and orderly.

In Gombe State, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya announced that Tinubu received 450,516 votes, while Osifo scored none, noting that the state had 550,516 registered APC members.

A similar outcome was recorded in Osun State, where the president polled 100,880 votes, with Osifo again recording zero votes. Minister Adegboyega Oyetola, who oversaw the exercise, said the turnout reflected strong confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In Ebonyi State, Tinubu secured all 207,579 valid votes cast across 13 local government areas, while Osifo did not record any vote. Governor Francis Nwifuru said the exercise was conducted simultaneously across 171 wards.

In Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq announced Tinubu’s victory with 310,990 votes against Osifo’s zero, noting that 457,374 members were registered for the exercise.

In Bayelsa State, Tinubu polled 277,192 votes, while Osifo received five votes. In Zamfara State, he recorded 321,579 votes compared to Osifo’s 42 votes.

In Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani, who monitored the exercise across 255 wards, said the turnout showed unity and confidence in the president’s leadership.

In Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodimma described the large turnout as evidence of Tinubu’s strong grassroots support, adding that with only party members voting, the outcome was already decisive.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced that Tinubu will receive his certificate of return and party flag on Sunday as the APC candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The ceremony is expected to hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, with APC governors, party executives, lawmakers, and other stakeholders in attendance following the completion of nationwide collation.
