Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has paid glowing tribute to the late Prophetess Serah Chinyere Chukwueze, describing her as the “Dorcas of our time” whose life was dedicated to faith, compassion, and selfless service to humanity.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, the governor spoke during the funeral service held on May 29, 2026, at Isieke Secondary School, Isieke Ibeku, in Umuahia North Local Government Area.

Otti said the late prophetess, who passed away on January 29, 2026, lived an exemplary life devoted to God and the welfare of others. He noted that her contributions as a healthcare professional, philanthropist, spiritual leader, wife, and mother left a lasting impact on her family, church, and the wider Abia community.

According to him, her life was marked by humility, strength, and compassion, qualities that will continue to inspire generations. He also highlighted her years of service in the Abia health sector and her ministry, through which many people received healing, encouragement, and hope.

Drawing parallels with the biblical Dorcas, known for her charitable works, the governor said Prophetess Chukwueze’s numerous acts of kindness and empowerment initiatives made her a source of hope for the less privileged and vulnerable.

Delivering the sermon, Rt. Rev. Precious Uchenna reminded the congregation that the value of life lies not in its length but in its impact. He urged Christians to embrace purposeful living through service, generosity, and unwavering faith.

He described the late prophetess as a devoted Christian whose life reflected genuine love, kindness, and commitment to God’s work.

In an emotional tribute, international football star Samuel Chukwueze described his late mother as loving, caring, and deeply supportive. He thanked her for her prayers, sacrifices, and guidance, which he said played a vital role in shaping his life and football career.

Family members, friends, and associates also paid tributes, praising her integrity, humility, and unwavering devotion to God.

The funeral attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, including political leaders, clergy, traditional rulers, and other distinguished guests.

Though her passing has left a profound void, Prophetess Serah Chinyere Chukwueze’s legacy of faith, charity, and service will continue to inspire countless lives for years to come.
