Otti Reaffirms Commitment to Unity, Cultural Preservation and Community Development in Abia

Governor Alex Otti has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting programmes and projects that foster unity, preserve cultural heritage, and promote community development throughout Abia State.

The governor made the pledge on Saturday in Aba during the ₦500 million fundraising and launch for the acquisition of land for a proposed Heritage Centre by the Association of Isiala Ngwa Sons and Daughters.

According to Otti, his administration remains focused on building a prosperous and inclusive state where all communities have the opportunity to grow and prosper.

“My administration is focused on building a prosperous, inclusive and development-driven state where every community will have opportunities to thrive,” he said.

“My administration also remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote unity, cultural preservation and community development.”

Represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the governor described the proposed Heritage Centre as a forward-looking initiative that would help preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Isiala Ngwa people while strengthening unity among members of the community.

He noted that the centre would serve as a gathering point for sons and daughters of Isiala Ngwa and help reinforce a shared sense of identity and belonging.

Otti further stated that community-led development projects complement government efforts to promote social harmony and sustainable growth.

He encouraged the association to intensify efforts to attract more Isiala Ngwa indigenes into its fold, saying a stronger membership base would help maximise the collective strength and potential of the people.

The governor also pledged his support toward the successful implementation of the Heritage Centre project.

Earlier in his welcome address, the President-General of the Association of Isiala Ngwa Sons and Daughters, Uchendu Ahuruonye, said the association was established by visionary individuals from Isiala Ngwa with the goal of promoting unity, preserving cultural values, and advancing the socio-economic development of Ngwa land.

He explained that the proposed Heritage Centre would provide a permanent home for the association while serving as a symbol of the people’s identity, history, and shared aspirations.

Ahuruonye also commended Governor Otti for what he described as transformational leadership and significant achievements across various sectors of the state.

According to him, the governor’s people-centred policies and infrastructure initiatives have helped restore public confidence in governance and accelerated development across Abia State.
