The Israeli military announced on Monday that it has killed three senior commanders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group in Gaza.

In a statement posted on X, the Israel Defense Forces said the operation targeted individuals involved in the group’s military operations and weapons development.

According to the IDF, one of those killed was Muhammad Atiya Hassan Abu Afash, who headed the Engineering and Specializations Array and was responsible for advancing the group’s engineering capabilities.

The military also identified Farhat Zuhair Farhat Harara, described as the deputy head of the Engineering Array, as another of those killed. It said he worked closely with Abu Afash and played a key role in the unit’s activities.

Another commander, Abdallah Allah Riyad Masoud Qadoum, who led the Anti-Tank Missile Array in northern Gaza, was also reported killed. The IDF alleged that he was involved in planning and executing multiple anti-tank missile attacks against Israeli forces.

The Israeli military said the operation forms part of its ongoing campaign aimed at reducing the operational capabilities of armed groups in Gaza.
