The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful in the face of ongoing security challenges across the country, assuring that efforts are underway to address the situation.
She gave the assurance on May 30, 2026, during a women’s gathering held at the Ekitikete Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, where she spoke on concerns surrounding insecurity and encouraged citizens to maintain confidence in government interventions.
According to a statement from the Office of the First Lady on Sunday, she assured that Nigeria’s security challenges would be overcome through the combined efforts of the Federal Government, security agencies, and international partners.
She also expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to tackling insecurity, urging Nigerians—particularly women—to remain hopeful and prayerful.
“Nigeria remains a great and blessed nation, and the challenges currently facing the country will soon pass,” she said.
Her remarks come amid continued security concerns in several parts of the country, including reported attacks and kidnappings in states such as Oyo, Benue, Borno, and others, where communities have faced repeated violence affecting civilians.
One of the referenced incidents occurred around May 15, 2026, when armed men reportedly attacked schools in Ahoro Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The attackers targeted Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.
During the incident, at least 25 pupils and seven teachers were abducted, while an assistant headmaster was killed, and another teacher later died in captivity.
At the same event in Ekiti, Senator Tinubu also announced a N100 million Business Recapitalisation Grant for 2,000 women petty traders to support small businesses and strengthen household incomes.
She further urged support for Ekiti State Governor and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
The First Lady thanked residents for their support for the state administration and encouraged them to turn out and vote in the upcoming poll.
