Dangote Cement Plc has reported a robust performance in the first quarter of 2026, recording a 71.6 per cent increase in cement and clinker exports from Nigeria. This comes as the company’s total installed production capacity across Africa climbed to 55 million tonnes per annum (MTA).
During the period under review, the company completed 10 clinker shipments from Nigeria to neighbouring countries, further strengthening its position as Africa’s leading cement exporter.
According to its unaudited Q1 2026 financial results, Dangote Cement also recorded a 13.8 per cent rise in total sales volumes year-on-year. This growth was driven by an 11.5 per cent increase in Nigeria and a 19.5 per cent expansion across its pan-African operations.
The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Arvind Pathak, attributed the strong results to the company’s operational efficiency, disciplined execution, and resilient business model across its markets.
He said revenue for the quarter grew by 20.4 per cent year-on-year to N1.198 trillion, supported by a strong rebound in sales volumes.
Pathak also noted that earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 22.8 per cent to N567.1 billion, describing it as evidence of effective cost control and strong profitability conversion.
The company reported a profit before tax of N421.1 billion, marking a 35 per cent increase compared to N311.9 billion recorded in the same period in 2025.
Earnings per share also rose significantly to N19.14, up from N12.29, reflecting improved returns for shareholders.
On exports, Pathak highlighted the rapid expansion of Dangote Cement’s international trade, noting that Nigeria-origin exports increased by 71.6 per cent within the quarter, supported by 10 clinker shipments.
He added that the company’s export performance reinforces its position as the continent’s leading cement exporter.
Looking ahead, he disclosed that following the commissioning of a 3Mta grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire, the company is advancing expansion projects in Itori and Ethiopia, along with other initiatives across Africa.
According to him, these investments are aimed at strengthening the company’s footprint and supporting its long-term target of reaching 80 million tonnes of production capacity by 2030.
