ADC Group Alleges Ruling Party Opposition to Electoral Fairness, Calls for Judicial Impartiality

A support group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Grassroots Mobilization Network (GMN), has raised concerns over ongoing legal disputes involving the party, calling on the judiciary to uphold fairness, due process, and constitutional order.

Speaking on Saturday in Abuja, the group’s spokesperson, Peter Emeka, said all political stakeholders must work together to safeguard democratic institutions and maintain public confidence in the electoral system.

“The ruling party doesn’t want anyone on the ballot,” Emeka alleged, while urging courts to remain neutral in handling politically sensitive cases.

He called on judicial officers handling election-related disputes to act strictly in accordance with the law and in a manner that strengthens trust in the judiciary.

According to him, court rulings on political matters often attract significant public attention and must be guided by justice, fairness, and constitutional principles.

Emeka further argued that disputes involving party leadership and internal party affairs should be resolved in line with established legal precedents and judicial procedures.

He noted that ongoing legal proceedings involving the ADC and Nafiu Bala have continued to draw interest from party members and political observers.

The ADC and Nafiu Bala are currently engaged in a leadership dispute, with multiple cases pending before different courts.

One of the related cases is expected to come up for hearing in the coming days.
