Emetu commended teachers for their dedication, patience, professionalism and sacrifices in educating, mentoring and inspiring children across the state.
The Deputy Governor noted that the work of teachers goes beyond classroom instruction, as they also contribute to character development, talent discovery, discipline and confidence-building among young people. He said their efforts help equip students with the knowledge, skills and values required to make meaningful contributions to society.
He also acknowledged the resilience of Abia teachers, particularly in the face of the challenges associated with their profession, and appreciated their continued commitment to their responsibilities.
According to Emetu, the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, recognises that sustainable development and meaningful transformation in Abia require a strong education system supported by capable and motivated teachers.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the education sector and creating an environment where teachers can effectively carry out their duties while students have access to quality education.
The Deputy Governor encouraged teachers to remain committed to their profession and embrace continuous training, innovation and technology. He also urged them to continue promoting integrity, excellence, discipline and service among their students.
Emetu called on parents, communities and other stakeholders to support teachers and schools, stressing that the education and future of Abia’s children require collective responsibility.
He expressed appreciation, on behalf of the state government and the people of Abia, for the role teachers play in developing the state’s human capital.
The Deputy Governor said the positive influence of a dedicated teacher can extend throughout a child’s life and contribute to the broader development of the state.
He wished teachers across Abia State a fulfilling and memorable World Teachers’ Day celebration.
