The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of eight Commissioners of Police to various state commands across the country and appointed a new Commandant for the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commission's spokesperson, Torty Njoku, who outlined the new postings and appointments.

According to the statement, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo, formerly the Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Training and Development, has been posted to Abia State as the new Commissioner of Police.

Other appointments include CP Ayodeji Faniyan, previously Commissioner of Police, Administration, Police Cooperative, Lagos, who will now serve as Commissioner of Police for Plateau State, and CP Saka Adewale Ajao, formerly Commissioner of Police, Administration, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Gombe, who has been posted to Bayelsa State.

The Commission also approved the deployment of CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, formerly Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Abuja, to Cross River State, while CP Nnanna Oji Ama, who previously served as Commissioner of Police, Intelligence, has been appointed Commissioner of Police for Anambra State.

Similarly, CP Patrick Daaor, formerly Commissioner of Police, Administration, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, has been posted to Edo State.

In addition, CP Tijani Murtala was appointed Commissioner of Police for Jigawa State, while CP Samuel Erale Etaifo was posted to Delta State.

Beyond the state command appointments, the PSC approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil.

According to the Commission, AIG Mohammed has more than 33 years of policing experience spanning operations, investigations, intelligence-led policing and training.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Bayero University. During his career, he has served as Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zones 3 and 6.

He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

The PSC explained that the postings followed the recent promotion of several Commissioners of Police and were designed to address operational needs while strengthening policing across the country.

Addressing the newly posted officers, Board Member and Commissioner of the PSC, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, rtd), who presided over the session, urged them to remain professional, uphold the rule of law, maintain political neutrality and carry out their responsibilities with diligence.

Other members of the Commission present at the meeting included Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, Hon. Justice Christine Ladi Dabup (rtd), Chief Onyemuche Nnamani and the Secretary to the Commission.
