The Renewed Hope Agenda Presidential Tour Team, which arrived in Abia State on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, for a two-day media tour of collaborative projects executed by the Federal and Abia State governments, has expressed satisfaction with the projects inspected across the state.
Speaking during the inspection of the Onuimo–Abia Tower Road project, the spokesperson of the Presidential Team and Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Hon. Sunday Dare, described the projects visited as impressive and aligned with the expectations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Dare noted that the projects were people-oriented and designed to improve the welfare and living conditions of citizens.
The Presidential Team, accompanied by Abia State media managers, commissioners, and other senior government officials, commenced the tour with a visit to the Renewed Hope Agenda Housing Estate located along the Umuahia–Uzuakoli Road in Umuahia.
At the housing estate site, the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Otumchere Otti, explained that the groundbreaking ceremony for the project had been carried out by officials of both the Federal and State Governments several months earlier.
He stated that the Abia State Government provided the land for the project and had paid compensation to the landowners. According to him, the state is currently awaiting further action from the Federal Government for the commencement of the 200 housing units designed for low and middle-income earners.
The team also inspected the Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara Alayi–Abiriba–Ohafia Road, with a brief stop at Ebem Ohafia to assess the Ohafia Power Station.
During the visit, the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Hon. Ikechukwu Monday, explained that Ohafia community had experienced prolonged power challenges but noted that government intervention had begun restoring electricity supply to the area and its surroundings.
The delegation further inspected the historic Omenuko Bridge, which had become a source of concern due to its poor condition and previous loss of lives linked to the state of the structure.
The Commissioner for Works explained that the bridge is located along the Ozuabam–Arochukwu Federal Road. He stated that Governor Alex Otti’s administration does not discriminate between federal and state-owned roads, adding that the intervention was aimed at preventing further accidents and saving lives.
The team also inspected the Ozuabam–Ndi Okereke–Amuvi Road project along the same axis.
Another major highlight of the tour was the visit to the Renewed Hope Agenda Housing Estate at Onuinyah, Bende, a project being championed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
Hon. Sunday Dare described the housing project as progressing well during the inspection.
The delegation later visited the ultra-modern Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal in Umuahia, where the Commissioner for Transport, Dr Isaac Chimezie Ukaegbu, explained the operational structure of the facility.
He stated that the terminal is equipped with modern facilities, including a control room that monitors activities within the park to ensure effective management and coordination. A member of the Presidential Team described the facility as the first of its kind in Nigeria.
The inspection tour concluded at the Onuimo–Umuahia Tower Road project, where Hon. Sunday Dare expressed satisfaction with the quality and impact of the projects visited during the two-day exercise.
