Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been banned from performing in Edo State following his public exchange with the state governor, Monday Okpebholo, over the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.

Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress, had during the party’s campaign for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, criticised the performance of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and alleged that his dancing activities were distracting him from governance.

Davido subsequently responded in an Instagram post, mocking Okpebholo over his academic performance by sharing what he described as the governor’s WAEC result.

Following Adeleke’s victory in the election, Davido, in an interview with News Central, said he would not apologise to Okpebholo.

The singer maintained that the governor had no right to attack a sitting governor whom he described as performing better in office.

Davido also challenged Okpebholo in an open letter posted on Instagram, telling the governor to prepare for him.

The development has now reportedly resulted in a ban preventing the singer from performing in Edo State.
