Lamine Yamal etched his name into the history books on Saturday evening after netting a hat-trick in FC Barcelona’s 4-1 win against Villarreal CF in the La Liga.

According to OptaJose, the Spain international is now among the youngest players to score their first LaLiga hat-trick in the 21st century.

Yamal achieved the milestone at the age of 18 years and 230 days.

Other players on the list include Giovani dos Santos, who scored his first hat-trick at 19 years and six days against Murcia in May 2008, and Santi Mina, who accomplished the feat at 19 years and 125 days against Rayo Vallecano in April 2015.

In addition, his treble against Villarreal means Yamal has now scored 26 goals in 95 LaLiga appearances. The achievement makes him the first player to reach 25 goals before turning 19 in Europe’s top five leagues in the 21st century.

The teenage winger will now aim to maintain his fine form when Barcelona take on Atlético Madrid in the return leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final clash on Tuesday.
