The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that certificates for candidates who sat for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates are now available online.

WAEC made the announcement on Friday through its official X account, directing candidates to access their certificates through the council’s Digital Certificate Platform.

“The 2026 WASSCE for School Candidate Certificate is now available for access on the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform,” the examination body stated.

The digital platform allows candidates to view, download and share their certificates electronically.

Candidates can access the service through the official WAEC website or the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application available on the Google Play Store.

The platform provides two major services: Certificate Access, which allows individuals to view, download and share certificates, and Certificate Confirmation, which enables institutions and organisations to verify certificates.

How to access the 2026 WAEC certificate

Candidates who want to access their 2026 WASSCE certificates can follow these steps:

Visit the official WAEC website and access the Digital Certificate Platform.

Select the Certificate Access option.

Enter the required examination and identification details.

Complete the verification process, including OTP authentication where required.

View and download the digital certificate.

Save the certificate securely or share it with institutions requesting it.

WAEC advised candidates to use only its official digital certificate platform or mobile application when accessing their certificates.

The digital certificate service is separate from the WAEC result-checking portal used to check examination results.

2026 WAEC results

The release of the certificates follows WAEC’s announcement of the 2026 WASSCE results.

According to the examination body, 1,950,726 candidates sat for the examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Candidates checking their results were required to generate a PIN and serial number through the WAEC website before accessing the result-checking portal.

The 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates was conducted from April 21 to June 19, 2026, with candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools participating.
