Haiti, Türkiye Eliminated From 2026 FIFA World Cup After Second Defeats

Haiti and Türkiye have been knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following defeats in their respective group-stage matches on Friday.

In Philadelphia, United States, five-time champions Brazil secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Haiti in Group C, a result that mathematically ended the Caribbean nation’s chances of progressing to the next round.

Brazil took the lead through Matheus Cunha, who reacted quickly to finish from close range after Vinicius Jr’s effort was saved.

Cunha later doubled Brazil’s advantage with a powerful strike from inside the penalty area, before Vinicius Jr added a third goal deep into first-half stoppage time.

The defeat leaves Haiti at the bottom of Group C with no points from two matches and a goal difference of -4. Their final group game against Morocco on June 24 will now have no impact on qualification.

Brazil moved to the top of the group on goal difference, ahead of Morocco.

Meanwhile, in Group D, Türkiye suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, confirming their early exit from the tournament.

Paraguay midfielder Matias Galarza scored the fastest goal of the 2026 World Cup so far, finding the net just 64 seconds into the match to give his side a crucial advantage.

Despite applying pressure late in the game and benefiting from Paraguay being reduced to 10 men after a stoppage-time red card, Türkiye could not find an equaliser.

The result left Türkiye without a point after two matches, ending their qualification hopes with one group fixture still remaining.

Paraguay, meanwhile, kept their slim chances of advancing alive ahead of their final group match against Australia.

The two eliminated teams had entered the tournament with different storylines. Haiti made its return to the World Cup for the first time since 1974, while Türkiye’s campaign ended earlier than expected despite arriving with significant expectations.
