The Reality Organisation, a pro-APC group, has called for the dissolution of the All Progressives Congress State Working Committee in Abia State over its handling of an ultimatum issued to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

The group rejected the resolution by the APC Abia stakeholders to lift the ultimatum issued to Kalu and the member representing Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency, Chris Nkwonta, over comments concerning Governor Alex Otti.

In a statement signed by Dimgba Okereke on Tuesday, the organisation described the decision to withdraw the ultimatum as a “face-saving measure” rather than a genuine reconciliation effort.

The group criticised the state chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, and members of the State Working Committee for what it described as poor handling of the matter.

“What transpired at the so-called stakeholders’ meeting was neither reconciliation nor leadership,” the group said.

It accused the SWC of creating unnecessary controversy by issuing threats and ultimatums without adequately establishing the alleged offences against the affected party leaders.

The organisation maintained that Kalu did not commit any anti-party offence, arguing that his comments about Otti’s chances in the 2027 election amounted to an assessment rather than an endorsement.

According to the group, Kalu was responding to questions about whether Otti could secure re-election in 2027 and whether there was an alliance between the APC and the governor.

“A prediction is not an endorsement. No amount of political sophistry can transform one into the other,” it stated.

The Reality Organisation further accused Chukwu of lacking the political temperament and leadership capacity required to unite the APC in Abia ahead of the 2027 elections.

It said a state party chairman should demonstrate fairness, maturity, consultation and sound judgment while accommodating different interests within the party.

The group argued that the handling of the Kalu controversy had created unnecessary tension within the APC and should not simply be dismissed under the banner of reconciliation.

“We therefore call on the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress to urgently intervene in Abia State and dissolve the present State Working Committee,” the organisation said.

It alleged that the Chukwu-led SWC had failed to provide the impartial and unifying leadership needed to reconcile competing interests within the party and prepare it for the 2027 general elections.
