The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, on Sunday joined worshippers at Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Umuahia 1 (Eagles Arena), for a spirited Father’s Day celebration themed “Watchmen in the Gap.”
The Deputy Governor attended the service at the invitation of the Resident Pastor, Freddy Ossai, and used the occasion to reflect on the sacrifices, responsibilities, and leadership expectations placed on fathers within the family and society.

He commended fathers for their resilience amid economic and social challenges, noting that many continue to bear significant responsibilities while working tirelessly to provide stability, guidance, and protection for their families. He also acknowledged the indispensable role of women, describing them as key partners in strengthening homes and raising responsible children.
Speaking during the service, Engr. Emetu emphasized that fatherhood, though demanding, remains a noble and fulfilling responsibility.

"Being a father comes with immense responsibility. Many times, fathers carry burdens quietly while still striving to provide leadership, care, and direction for their families. Today, we honour every father for their sacrifices, strength, and commitment."
The Deputy Governor also offered prayers for couples trusting God for the fruit of the womb, expressing optimism that their desires would be granted. He encouraged families to remain steadfast in faith, unity, and perseverance.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Abia State Government under Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, Engr. Emetu appreciated the continued support of residents and called for sustained partnership in building a more prosperous and stable state. He assured that the administration remains focused on strengthening infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, power supply, and access to clean water.
He further urged eligible citizens to participate actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, emphasizing that civic engagement remains essential for sustaining democratic governance and effective leadership.

According to him, good governance must be people-centred, reducing the burden on citizens while enabling religious institutions to focus more on spiritual guidance and moral development.
In his sermon, the Resident Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Eagles’ Arena, Umuahia, Pastor Freddy Ossai, charged men to remain faithful watchmen in their homes, communities, and places of worship. He encouraged fathers to lead by example, remain steadfast in prayer, and uphold godly values within their families.

Also speaking, the President of the Omega Fire Ministries Men’s Fellowship, Umuahia 1, Hon. Nwaobasi Chidoezi, expressed joy over the celebration and urged fathers to consistently place God at the centre of their lives. He admonished men to remain prayerful and steadfast despite prevailing challenges, stressing the importance of standing in the gap for their families and society in line with the theme of the event.
A major highlight of the service was the recognition and decoration of the Deputy Governor by the Resident Pastor, including the presentation of a symbolic Omega Fire Ministries muffler on behalf of the General Overseer of the ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
