Davido Begins Construction on Multi-Billion Naira Waterfront Mansion

Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido, born David Adeleke, has begun building a multi-billion naira waterfront mansion in the prestigious Eko Atlantic city.

Moving away from the traditional celebrity hubs of Lekki and Banana Island, the mansion—reportedly a 16-bedroom palace—is designed for the “Omo Baba Olowo” (OBO) and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland. The architectural concept is said to fuse Caribbean and Mexican aesthetics, complemented by a beachfront view that mirrors Davido’s global lifestyle and international appeal.

Davido first burst onto the scene over a decade ago with his breakout hit Dami Duro, transitioning from a local Nigerian sensation to an international powerhouse. Over the years, he has played a defining role in exporting Afrobeats to the global stage, seamlessly bridging African rhythms with Western pop influences.

From global anthems like Fall and If to sold-out performances at the The O2 Arena, Davido’s discography has amassed billions of streams worldwide. Notably, “Fall” became one of the longest-charting Nigerian pop songs in Billboard history, further cementing his legacy.

Born in Atlanta, Davido is the son of billionaire industrialist and philanthropist Adedeji Adeleke. Raised in a family synonymous with wealth and political influence in Osun State, he grew up with privilege but deliberately carved out a career independent of his father’s immense shadow.

Though his “Omo Baba Olowo” identity initially sparked conversation, Davido transformed it into a brand synonymous with ambition and enterprise. While his father’s wealth provided a safety net, his relentless drive in the music industry secured him a distinct seat at the global table.

His accolades include wins at the BET Awards, MOBO Awards, and multiple Headies. He also founded Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), a record label that has nurtured some of Africa’s biggest talents, including Mayorkun.

Beyond music, Davido’s business acumen continues to expand his empire. With an estimated personal net worth exceeding $100 million, alongside existing luxury properties in Banana Island and Atlanta, this new Eko Atlantic project reinforces one thing: for Davido, the ceiling for success and luxury simply does not exist.
