Dangote Named Africa’s Most Admired Brand for Eighth Consecutive Year

Dangote Industries Limited has maintained its dominance in Africa’s corporate landscape after being named Africa’s Most Admired Brand for the eighth consecutive year in the latest Brand Africa 100 rankings.

The announcement was made at the 16th edition of the Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the conglomerate also retained its position as Africa’s Most Admired Industrial Brand and was recognised as the leading African brand contributing to a better continent.

According to Brand Africa, the rankings were based on a 2026 survey conducted across 30 African countries, covering more than 85 per cent of the continent’s population and economic output. The survey assessed consumer perception, brand influence and market relevance across various sectors.

In the aided recall category, Dangote emerged as Africa’s most admired brand, ahead of MTN and Vodacom. The company also placed second in spontaneous brand recall, behind MTN and ahead of Trade Kings.

Brand Africa attributed Dangote’s strong performance to its wide presence across key sectors of the African economy, including cement, fertiliser, petrochemicals, energy, sugar, salt, packaging and logistics.

The survey also ranked the company second among brands seen as making a positive impact on society, people and the environment.

Despite improvements recorded by African-owned brands, Brand Africa noted that they still account for only 15 per cent of the continent’s top 100 most admired brands, highlighting the continued dominance of global companies in African markets.

Founder and Chairman of Brand Africa, Thebe Ikalafeng, said the findings underscore the need to better support homegrown brands to drive industrial growth and economic development across the continent.

He stressed that companies like Dangote demonstrate Africa’s capacity to build globally competitive industrial champions when properly supported.

The latest recognition adds to Dangote Industries’ growing list of accolades, including its induction into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame for sustained brand leadership.

The rankings also featured Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Industries, among Africa’s 100 Most Influential Chief Marketing Officers, with 17 Nigerians making the inaugural list from West Africa.

Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries, also received a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to industrialisation and private-sector development across Africa.
