Abia PDP Stronger Than Ever, Difficult to Defeat in 2027, Says Governorship Candidate Anosike

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, has expressed confidence that the party is stronger, more united and well-positioned to reclaim power in the 2027 governorship election.

Anosike made the remarks on Wednesday in Umuahia during his first official homecoming, where he thanked party delegates for choosing him to represent the PDP in the next general election.

He said the party had regained momentum and was now better organised to face future electoral contests.

According to him, the PDP remains the strongest political party in Abia State, with an extensive structure that cuts across all wards and polling units.

Anosike maintained that the party’s large membership base gives it a significant advantage, adding that a united PDP would be difficult for any opposition party to defeat.

He said the party had become more vibrant, united and formidable, expressing confidence that it would perform strongly in the 2027 polls.

Describing himself as a welfarist, Anosike said his leadership philosophy is rooted in fairness and ensuring that workers receive the rewards they deserve.

He outlined several programmes his administration would pursue if elected governor, including promoting industrial harmony, improving residents’ welfare and creating the Abia Labour Global Opportunities Agency to equip young people with skills needed to compete in the international job market.

He also pledged to establish the Abia State Informal Sector Development Regulatory Agency, which would regulate activities in the informal sector, certify skilled youths and issue professional licences.

According to him, the goal is to improve the capacity and value of workers, noting that increased value creates greater economic opportunities.

Anosike said governance goes beyond building infrastructure and requires innovative policies that make institutions more effective and responsive to the needs of the people.

While promising continued investment in roads and other infrastructure, he stressed that human capital development would remain a major priority of his administration.

He added that his government would introduce programmes aimed at creating employment opportunities in both the industrial and agricultural sectors.

Among the initiatives he highlighted was "Operation Feed Abia," a back-to-farm programme designed to boost agricultural production and improve livelihoods across the state.

The PDP candidate also announced plans to establish a sports academy to discover, nurture and promote talented young athletes, giving them opportunities to compete on the global stage.

He further pledged to review workers' salaries, introduce the Abia State Health Insurance Scheme, revitalise primary healthcare centres, improve rural road networks to support farmers and expand job opportunities for young people.

Anosike said these proposals reflect his optimism about the state's future and his commitment to improving the lives of Abia residents.

He also assured party members that following the successful national documentation and profiling exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the PDP had validly presented its candidates for the 2027 general election.

According to him, the successful upload of the party’s candidates confirms their eligibility to participate in the forthcoming elections.
