Abia CP Orders Seizure of Vehicles Without Number Plates

The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, has ordered officers of the command to impound vehicles operating without number plates as well as those with covered registration numbers.

He also directed that such vehicles be subjected to thorough investigations and that any violations uncovered should be diligently prosecuted in court.

The directive was issued on Thursday in Umuahia during a briefing with strategic officers of the command following the recent conference between senior police officers and the Inspector-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Addressing Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Vehicle Crime Recovery Unit commanders, and heads of departments, the police commissioner explained that the order originated from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Isa urged officers to remain proactive in maintaining security across the state and called for intensified efforts against criminal activities.

He instructed security personnel to take the fight directly to criminal hideouts and warned against complacency, particularly during the rainy season when criminal elements often exploit weather conditions to carry out unlawful activities.

While commending officers for their commitment to maintaining peace and public safety, the commissioner encouraged them to sustain and improve their efforts.

He also reminded personnel of the importance of professionalism, civility, and respect in carrying out their duties.

The police chief stressed the need for strict compliance with human rights standards, including safeguarding the rights of suspects during investigations, and urged officers to embrace intelligence-driven policing.

Additionally, he cautioned strategic officers to maintain a high level of discipline within their ranks and continually educate personnel on the appropriate use of firearms in accordance with Force Order 237.
