The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has joined Nigerians in marking this year’s Democracy Day, commending President Bola Tinubu for what it described as bold efforts to strengthen democratic governance and promote national development.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party said Democracy Day remains an important reminder of Nigeria’s democratic journey and the sacrifices that helped shape it.

The statement described the day as a historic milestone that celebrates the will of the people, the resilience of democratic institutions, and the contributions of those who fought for democratic rule in Nigeria.

It also praised the policy direction of the Tinubu administration, noting that its reforms are aimed at addressing long-standing structural challenges in the country.

According to the party, “his administration has demonstrated courage and determination in implementing critical reforms aimed at addressing long-standing structural challenges confronting our nation.”

The APC acknowledged that the ongoing reforms may come with temporary difficulties but insisted they are necessary for long-term economic stability and growth.

“While these reforms may demand temporary sacrifices, they are necessary steps towards building a stronger economy, attracting investments, creating jobs, stabilising public finances, and securing a better future for generations yet unborn,” the statement added.

The party further commended President Tinubu’s leadership style, saying it has helped restore public confidence in the country’s direction and governance.

“President Tinubu’s bold leadership has rekindled hope in the possibility of a Nigeria that works for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation,” it said.

The Abia APC also called on citizens to support federal government policies, stressing that democracy thrives when people actively participate in governance and back policies aimed at collective progress.

It urged residents of Abia State to remain committed to democratic values, national unity, peace, and development, while supporting the government’s reform agenda.

Reaffirming its position, the party said it remains committed to promoting good governance, transparency, accountability, and improved welfare for citizens.

It added that it will continue working to ensure that the benefits of democracy reach communities across Abia State and Nigeria at large.
