Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prospects in Osun State remain “very bright” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kalu said the President could still enjoy significant support from political stakeholders across the state, including members of the All Progressives Congress and the Accord Party.
He made the remarks in a statement issued by his media office on Sunday, following President Tinubu’s congratulatory message to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election.
Kalu congratulated Adeleke on his victory while expressing sympathy with the APC leadership, stakeholders, the party’s governorship candidate and supporters over the election outcome.
“I join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as the Governor of Osun State. I also sympathise with the APC leadership, our party’s governorship candidate and all our supporters over the outcome of the election,” he said.
The former governor also commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, for his contributions to the development of the state.
Kalu described the outcome of the governorship election as an expression of democracy, urging political stakeholders to respect the decision of the electorate.
“What happened in Osun is democracy in play. Elections are about the choice of the people, and as a party, we should be able to come back stronger,” he said.
He maintained that the APC’s defeat in the Osun governorship election should not be viewed as a setback for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to Kalu, the President’s political prospects in Osun remain strong, despite the outcome of the governorship poll.
He urged political leaders and supporters to remain committed to the democratic process while working towards the progress and unity of Nigeria.
