England football legend Ian Wright has tipped 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosts the United States to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

The Americans secured their place in the last 32 after recording a 2-0 victory over Australia in their second group-stage match.

The result followed their impressive opening fixture, where they defeated Paraguay 4-1 to make a strong start to their World Cup campaign.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Wright expressed confidence in the United States’ chances of progressing deep into the competition.

“I think America will get to the semi-finals,” Wright said.

Explaining his prediction, the former striker praised the team’s defensive organisation, midfield quality, and attacking options.

“The reason I say that is because I think they have got a back four that is solid, they have midfielders who play at a good level and we saw with Flo Balogun that he can score goals,” he added.

The United States, managed by Mauricio Pochettino, will conclude their Group D campaign against Türkiye, who have already been eliminated from the tournament.
